Adventures in Wonderland

On the computer on Netflix, that's really all I did today.

Got up a little after 11:00 and had breakfast and coffee. I puttered around online for awhile. I was expecting the delivery of my new computer today, but annoyingly Best Buy is now saying between today and the 18th. It had better get here soon, the physical collapse of this one is accelerating.

Anyway, eventually I decided that I should watch The Old Guard 2, which I'd been meaning to do since I heard about it. It's on Netflix, so I signed in. It's not, in my opinion, as good as the first one, but I enjoyed it.

Finished that a little after 4:00, and went into the bedroom to play solitaire.

Came back out around 6:00, puttered online. At 7:00 I Skyped the FWiB, and we talked for a nice time, though we had some technical difficulties.

After we finished talking I had diner, and went back into the bedroom again. I ordered an Old Guard graphic novel, the one that's short stories, from Thriftbooks. They have it on back order though.

That's really all I did today except a little emailing. I emailed Flamingo to double check if I had registered for SHarecon. I was sure I had, but disturbingly, I can't remember doing so. But I was right, I had, so that's OK.

I also emailed John and Denise about some cottage business, and Denise called and we had a rather nice conversation.

I called mashfanficchick but ze wasn't doing anything.

Last night after I posted here, the Kid called, and we talked. She has another job interview on Thursday.

And that's pretty much everything.

I got up at about 9:30 this morning and had breakfast and coffee, then showered and dressed. Then I took the 28 bus to my Al-anon meeting. I missed one just barely, so I was a little late, but not badly.

The meeting was very good, larger than usual. Afterward there were 8 of us that went to the diner. I got a bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant, and iced coffee. I got a ride most of the way home, so I didn't get a chance to try out the transfer to the 12 from the 13. Next week maybe.

Got home, the cottage deeds have arrived, but I haven't looked at them yet. I put in my second eyedrop for the day, and went to the Starsky and Hutch chat, We had a good time, and chatted til a bit past 6:00.

Cousin Nancy texted me. The OUting Park meeting is tomorrow, and she wanted to know if I would allow her daughter Sophie to be my proxy as she was afraid there might be some things we'd want to prevent, like excess tree removal. I trust Nancy so I said yes.

A bit before 7:00 I put in my third eyedrop, and then Teamed the FWiB. We talked for an hour and a half, and it as fun.

I checked Barnes and Noble's website and discovered that the new Bujold novella, The Adventure of the Demonic Ox, was available for download, so I downloaded that. I haven't started reading it yet though, I had to finish the Aaronovitch book, Stone and Sky, first.

I also called the Kid, who didn't pick up, so I texted her about the deeds and the proxy. No reply yet,

Then I played solitaire til pet feeding time, because I was falling behind in the Events.

My vision is starting to get less blurry now. I am excited about seeing better. It's still pretty smudgy, but definitely better than yesterday,

Posting from my phone. Spent the day at mashfanficchick's place. We watched the last of The Lincoln Lawyer. I called Middle Brother, he's fine. We had halal food for dinner. I briefly Teamed the FWiB. Spending the night to go to my eye surgery tomorrow.

Last night Stone and Sky, the new Ben Aaronovitch Rivers of London became available, so I downloaded it to my Nook.

Then I had very broken sleep (especially considering I got to bed at 3:30ish). I got up at 10:00 and put in my first dose of the eye drops I need before my surgery Friday, then went back to bed. But I finally got up, around 12:30, had breakfast and coffee, and meant to get my laundry together and take it down.

But it was over 90 degrees out, and felt like 102, so I decided no, stay in and read.

So that's what I did, I read Stone and Sky, in the bedroom with the ac on. I had gotten a call from the movers who are bringing Oldest Brother's stuff to the unit that they would bring it between 2:00 and 4:00 tomorrow, so later I called mashfanficchick and told her and we made plans.

At 6:00 I got off and puttered online, and emailed Ricky since I never heard back from him about picking me up from the train station, and asked him straight out. Waiting for an answer.

At 7:00 I Teamed the FWiB, We talked til it was time for my meeting at 8:00. The meeting was just me and M. So we ended early, and I had dinner, then went to read again until pet feeding time. Then I fed the pets, and did today's third drop in my eye.

And now it's time for more reading.

I woke up a bit after 10:00, then went back to sleep til about 11:30. Then I got up and had breakfast and coffee.

I puttered online awhile, then I cleaned the cat pan. Then I did something I was originally planning to do next month, but decided to do now instead, I ordered a new computer. The one i was originally going to get directly from HP was no longer available, so I went to the site for Best Buy. I found what I think is the same computer, on clearance, for less, and I put it on my Best Buy card. This computer is literally falling apart, and on Wednesday one of the USB ports stopped working. The new one will be delivered the 14th. It's smaller than this one, 14' instead of 17' but it's cheap.

After that I went to the Starsky and Hutch creative work session by Zoom. That was fun. And I actually wrote a little bit. The Kid called briefly while I was on.

That ended a bit after 6:00. I put clothes on and took the bag of kitty litter and the empty box out, and walked around the block.

Then I Teamed the FWiB. We talked about an hour and a half. Then at 8:30 I called Middle Brother. He is doing fine, went swimming and had a barbeque on the 4th of July.

Then I had dinner and went to the bedroom to play solitaire. mashfanficchick called and we talked about tomorrow.

At pet feeding time I came out and fed the pets and started here.

Overslept this morning, turned off the alarm at 10:00 and went back to sleep until 12:30. Then hurried to have breakfast and coffee and shower and dress.

Took my Agatha Christie book and my folding chair and went to mashfanficchick's place, stopping on the way first to get gluten free Oreos.

Got to zer place, ze was making Rice Crispy treats. Ze finished that up, and then we packed a bag and the insulated backpack and headed off to Forest Park. Asked if Trish wanted to come last night but she didn't.

It was a very nice day. We got a visit from a small dog belonging to the person sitting near to us, which was amusing. We sat in the shade and puttered on our phones, talked, and ate. I got a phone call from John and Denise, which was very nice, we had a good talk. The Kid texted, she has her job interview Monday.

Finally it was getting late. Fireflies came out, more than I've seen in years. We headed back and got back to zer place just in time for the broadcast of the Macy's fireworks.

Sadly the broadcast was somewhat disappointing. The filming was not great, and the musical accompaniment was uninspiring. But it's always nice seeing fireworks.

I requested an Uber, just to see how expensive it would be, to my surprise it was relatively cheap so I set out for home before it got worse.

Got here and fed the pets, then Teamed the FWiB. That was nice.

Now time for bed.

I actually walked to the post office to mail my request to the Niagara County Clerk. I made the discovery that there is a veterinarian off ice which I didn't know about between here and the post office, which is a very good thing. I haven't taken Oreo to a vet since I've owned him, s he really needs a checkup.

Came home and did not much of anything, but a very little cleaning, and took out kitty litter, and walked around the block.

I also read a little in the Agatha Christie I'm on now, Cat Among the Pigeons.

My psychologist called, and renewed my med prescriptions, which I will pick up tomorrow.

Then at 7:00 I Teamed the FWiB, and we talked til 8:00 when I had my D&D game. He had something he wanted to do too so that worked out.

The game was short two people but we played anyway, fighting two abominations, and an evil computer thing.

Then I had dinner and fed the pets, and called mashfanficchick about plans for tomorrow.

And then I started here.
