Neanderthal genomics (yes, really)

I'm at a conference all week on human genetics (http://hgm2007.hugo-international.org/) for work. My background is all proteins and biochemistry and my job is now all genomics, so I really need this conference. Anyway, the first talk this morning was on Neanderthal genomics. Seriously. Neanderthal genomics. People are out there sequencing Neanderthal DNA and comparing it to human. Seriously. The conclusion: sorta similar, but not really. That's a shock.
God, I love my job sometimes.
