It's long and angsty and I couldn't have done without [livejournal.com profile] peg22's help. She read and edited and kickstarted the story every time I got stuck.

Today's consumer society dilemma-

In order to watch Netflix on TV, we have to disconnect the laptop from the docking station, bring it to the TV, attach the HDMI cable, then find the movie/tv show. This could all be solved by buying a new DVD player that has Netflix on it. No more lugging the laptop around, no more cables. But I can't decide if buying a new DVD player (to replace the perfectly good Blu-ray player we have) is a brilliant idea that can masquerade as an anniversary present to each other or is the most self-indulgent and wasteful purchase I'll ever make.

Maybe I could accidentally drop the DVD player...

One year ago my hair was fancy and my heart was full.
Today I'm still in my pjs and my heart is happy, the sun is shining and I feel like I'm in a romantic comedy on an endless loop.
All thanks to the boys and my girl.  sometimes a bilingual city makes for interesting spelling choices . . .

....that the whole end of the world thing didn't happen.

I'm twenty pages into it  and I'm starting to remember how it feels to write. I haven't written anything  since an Advent Calendar story for Marion at Christmas (insert standard list of excuses here) and I've missed  torturing  writing the boys.

My problem is that I never write an outline and therefore tend to write myself into plot corners that I can't find my way out of.  We'll see how it turns out.

Happy New Year!

Last free evening before I go back to work. We had a lovely holiday with the new baby and spent lots of times with friends and family. I'd love another week off just to sit at home and read and write. Speaking of writing, I've just reviewed my fic list for the past year and it's disappointingly short. I always make resolutions to write more and somehow always seem to write less. I did dabble a bit in Supernatural this year. These stories represent my only writing efforts outside the safe haven of Starsky and Hutch. I admire people who can write in several fandoms, I can barely keep it going in one.  And if it weren't for the [livejournal.com profile] me_and_thee_100 list, I'd have written even less. So I'm grateful to [livejournal.com profile] dipslikeramon and [livejournal.com profile] lauramcewan for keeping the fannish fires burning. On the bright side, by this time next year, I'll have the SH Big Bang story to list (yay!)

This is the list:

Supernatural

Confiteor
Stealing Home
The Daily Double
Elephant in the Room
Credo
A Taste of Paradise
 - my first longish SPN story.
Silent Running
Indulgences

Starsky and Hutch

Blue
Bullet Proof
Four People They Told, and One They Didn't - Advent Calendar 2010 story
Language Barrier
Stories
Starsky's Birthday

I try not to make resolutions, but if I did, I'd resolve to write something -- even a few words -- every day.  A more realistic resolution might be to finish the several WIPs I have lingering....
